![]() ![]() We need the law to be changed.Ībout 6 months ago, I tried to add my computer AVG with my husband's, so I called in to their service to do that. My advice - don't deal with any Software house that has Automatic Renewal - you will NEVER escape without being ripped off. I have tried to fax AVG's office in the UK but the fax number listed on AVG's website is disconnected - why am I not surprised! I have, however, invested another £70.00 and issued a Small Claims Court Writ to recover my money. Trading Standards and OFCOM couldn't care at all so these thieves are free to pursue their fraudulent business practices unhindered. Interestingly the Police don't view this as a crime. ![]() I view this action as simple fraud or even theft. So much for their 'Unquestioned Refund Policy'. AVG now tell me that they have to review the 'case' and they will make a judgement shortly. They never looked at the evidence and never asked for a copy of the e-mail so they must be part of the same cabal. PayPal will not refund as they say I have an on-going agreement. Clearly the e-mail sent in 2015 was a blatant lie. I was surprised to find that AVG then took a payment of £45.00 from my PayPal Account for renewal of AVG Protection. I recently uninstalled AVG and use AVAST Free. ![]() I installed a pop-up blocker which seemed to do the job. ![]() They did, however, confirm that they would cancel all future renewals and that they would not take any further payments. In October 2015 I asked AVG for a refund but they refused a it had been longer than a month. It took me 2 days to re-configure and remove all of the problems. The system then slowed dramatically and continually 'froze'. After a few days I contacted tech support again and they took remote control of my machine and 'solved' the problem. I carried out this action and the Pop-Ups continued. I contacted Tech Support and they told me to uninstall all of the AVG software and sent me a re-install link. After a short time I started receiving Pop Up messages about 4 times a day telling me that I HAD to renew my subscription or security could be compromised - I had ONLY 295 days remaining. ![]()
